PEEKABOO

I'm back and super duper fresh. Where have I been? Let's just say I've been away from my blog to learn some important lessons and become more passionate to this blog.

So what's new? Last Monday, February 11th my fantastic friend, Hanako popped up in my head and I got the urge to search her name on Facebook, naturally. What I soon then realised was that her profile was no where to be seen. I was confused for a minute and later I decided to call her up and ask her what was going on. She told me that she had deactivated her account for around two weeks now and that she was over reading/seeing things about people that she did not have much interest about.

BOOM.

When I heard those words I immediately decided that this was the next thing I was going to do. Hanako was completely right. Do I really care that someone just bought Beyonce tickets? Will that make me a better person? The people I genuinely care about have my phone number & more concrete ways of contacting me. Then there are people that you meet on a night out and yes, it was lovely to have that moment together with them in your life but that doesn't mean that you have to share with them your photographs or every thought as your status? Don't get me wrong Facebook is potentially great for connecting with people but honestly I think it's now gotten to the point where I wasted too much time just reading and scrolling through pointless news that don't even have any real relevance to me. My friend Bella and I calculated that if you spend 30 minutes a day it adds up to one full week of your year is technically spent on Facebook. Kind of crazy isn't it?

So after having spoken to Hanako, I thanked her and told her she was right & that she had completely motivated me to deactivate my account too. So after 9 days of not having Facebook, I can honestly say that I have been incredibly more productive with my work than I have been in a long long time. The timing was kind of perfect as Lent was just underway so I have decided to fully challenge myself and give it up for Lent.

I did get some initial urges in the beginning but hey, that's only natural after having spent that much time on it in the past! So how about joining me on this anti Facebook revolution?  That might sound a bit aggressive but it's catchy too - I think.

MTO

Ps. I missed this
